Spot-welding in confined spaces
made by LEWA Attendorn

The first extremely lightweight, medium-frequency servo tongues with integrability in line with European standards is an ideal piece of equipment for highly automated and flexible production concepts in the spot-welding arena.

Technical benefits at a glance:

  • Spot-welding tongues in X and C design
  • Tongues in medium frequency technology (1000 Hz)
  • Servomotor drive designed as external robot axis
  • Extra lightweight, the complete weight of the tongues X design and C design < 73kg
  • Extra fast and dynamic
  • up to 600 daN compressive force
  • Unique flexible tongues arm geometry (see video on the right)

Our drive development specifications were fully met. The drive motor was modified and adjusted to specifically meet the requirements. The objective, i.e., a high closing speed and constant tongues power, were realized based on precision force control.

The extensive integration into robot controls as well as operation as robot axis allows the configuration of both robot and tongues using one control panel. In addition, the movement of the tongues is always synchronized with that of the main axis.

The transformer with medium frequency technology (1000 Hz) comes with an integral circular, disc-shaped reflector spool and can be operated with all common inverters in MF technology.
