20.06.2010: Experience mechanical engineering at LEWA Attendorn

|
LEWA Attendorn is one of two companies from the Olpe district to take part in the “Erlebnis Maschinenbau – Technik, die fasziniert” project (experience mechanical engineering – fascinating technology). Across the federal land of North Rhine-Westphalia, some 120 firms participated in events organized as part of this project. On 24 and 25 June 2010, three breakout groups with a total of around 100 delegates met with representatives of LEWA Attendorn to learn about engineering jobs. ”Committed mechanical engineering firms, supported by North Rhine-Westphalia’s chamber of commerce, as well as trade unions IG Metall NRW, Metall NRW and VDMA NRW in cooperation with OWL Maschinenbau (BINGO) offered the students insights into jobs which young people rarely consider when they decide what career path to choose. Showing a great deal of commitment and enthusiasm, the companies compiled programmes to give the students an accurate and meaningful picture of engineering jobs. By seeing practical examples, the participants were able to see for themselves in shops, training workshops and offices just how exciting these careers can be. Accompanied by experts, HR practitioners, trainers and trainees, the students discovered what the work of an industrial mechanic, mechatronics engineer or machining mechanic is all about. Assisted by trainees, they had the opportunity to try out skilled work. In discussions with employees, they were able to broaden their horizons and get a clear picture of their potential professional development. What proved to be critical for the project’s success from the perspectives of both the visitors and the companies was an appealing presentation of job content to truly match the target group.” (Sources and other information: www.erlebnis-maschinenbau.de) |
